FAQ’s - All You Need to Know!

Fall Recreation Soccer by Morenita – Now in Our 48th Year!
Fall recreational soccer is made possible by local businesses who sponsor teams. These business partners help us keep our program affordable, ensuring that soccer remains accessible to all kids. If you'd like to sponsor a team, please reach out to pweber@napaunited.org.

  • Player Eligibility:
Anyone who turns 4 years old in 2026 up to 15 years old can participate in Fall Rec Soccer, as long as we have enough players to form a team and a coach. U14/U16 will be Co-ed to ensure enough teams can be formed to play a season.

  • Team Formation:
Beginning 2026-2027 season, teams are formed based on U.S. Soccer Federation’s predetermined school year calendar (Aug 1 - July 31). Players may not play down an age group but can request to play up an age group.

  • Practice Start Date:
Practices may begin as early as August 1st (target date) depending on the team coach’s availability.

  • Practice & Game Schedule:
Practices are typically once or twice a week (Monday-Friday), and games are held over the weekend (Saturday/Sunday). For older teams, some games may be played during the week. Practices and locations are determined by the volunteer coach.

  • Games:
Games will begin the first weekend of September, 2026, and some may be played during the week depending on referee availability. If you’re interested in refereeing (and getting paid for it), please contact pweber@napaunited.org.

  • End of Season Tournament:
End of Season Tournament details are TBD at this time. More info will be released closer to the start of the Fall season.

  • Team Assignments & Friend Requests:
Teams are primarily formed based on the school players attend, so players will often be grouped with classmates. You can request to play with a friend during registration, but please note that friend requests are not guaranteed. We recommend friends request each other for the best chance of being placed together.

  • Refund Policy:

    • 100% refund (less processing fee) if requested by June 30th

    • 50% refund if requested by July 20th

    • 25% refund if requested by August 17th

    • No refund after the start of the season.

Coaching Information:

  • Volunteer Coaches:
Fall recreational soccer teams are coached by volunteer parents. If you want to volunteer as a coach, please click here to register. Without volunteer coaches, soccer doesn't happen! Coaches will receive a roster in the second week of July and are encouraged to reach out to players even if the practice schedule isn’t set yet.

  • Coaching Requirements:
Coaches must complete Cal North’s Risk Management Requirements before they can coach. This includes:

    • Background Check (paid for by Napa United)

    • Live Scan Fingerprinting (paid for by Napa United)

    • SafeSport Course

    • Intro to Safety Course

Coaches who have completed fingerprints with Napa United previously may not need to repeat this process.

  • Coaching Resources:
Coaches are encouraged to take the Introduction to Grassroots Soccer online course by US Soccer. The first session is free, opening the door for additional training courses. More information can be found here.

Team Managers:

Team managers are recommended to assist with game day snacks and help communicate practice and game times to the team.

Equipment:

  • Players are responsible for their own soccer cleats, shin guards, water, and sunscreen.

  • Uniforms: Every child will receive two Capelli jerseys, a pair of shorts, and a pair of socks, which will be distributed by coaches before the first game.

  • Coaches: We will provide coaches with a syllabus, skills/drills, and game formations specific to each age group, as well as the necessary equipment for running training sessions (e.g., balls, cones, and bibs).

Registration Requirements:

Please be prepared to upload an image and birth certificate of your player during the registration process.

Sibling Discount:

If registering more than one player in your family, a discount will be applied to the subsequent registrations.
